Wagner's masterful retelling of the 17th century nautical legend,"The Flying Dutchman" has mesmerized audiences since the Dresden world premiere in 1843: A cursed sea captain and his phantom ship are doomed to sail the seas forever, unless he's redeemed by the powers of true love. November 15-17, at Phoenix's Symphony Hall, AZ Opera continues their season with Wagner's ghostly opera, complete with an all star cast that includes Mark Delavan as the Dutchman. This is the time of the year that many in the Southwest celebrate the memories of loved ones now departed, with Dia de los Muertos,The Day of the Dead. This Sunday, the holiday will be celebrated with a very special concert at the Herberger Theater featuring the internationally recognized Mariachi Champaña Nevín with the students of Rosie’s House and the Phoenix Boys Choir.
