The Soldiers Tale in Fountain Hills

Click to Listen:

The Fountain Hills Chamber Players and Fountian Hills Theater will be presenting Stravinsky's piece for dancer, speakers and musicians “The Soldiers Tale” on February 19th at Fountain Hills United Methodist Church.

Stravinsky wrote The Soldiers Tale in Switzerland in 1918  – basically trapped there. He was cash strapped too but needed a new piece so he composed for just a few playes and a small troupe. He took a Russian folk story about a fiddler who makes a Faustian deal for his instrument with the devil and then tries to get it back.

Sterling Beeaff sat down with Joey Kluensener, the Executiver and Creative Director of the Chamber Players and Suzu Hendersom, Executive Dierctor of the Theater in Fountain Hills to learn how a performance is born.
