Matt Bell is a prolific author of dark and surreal novels, including this year's Scrapper, about a scrap-hunter in a dystopian Detroit. A Michigan native, Bell moved to Arizona two years ago to teach for Arizona State University's MFA program. This segment is the first of a four-part series on the Phoenix literary scene hosted by author Robert Isenberg.
